2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How Do A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches Affect High Pressure Sensor Service and Repair on 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before starting, remove the refrigerant from the A/C system and cut off the negative battery cable. Lift and hold the car, then disconnect the wire harness on the fuel shut off switch that sits on the back of the compressor. Unfasten the internal snap ring holding the compressor's high pressure cut out switch to the port and then you can remove and pull out the switch. Apply a plug or tape over the opened hole in the rubber off tap bracket and toss out the O-ring from the high pressure switch. Prior to installing, wipe away any dirt from the underside of the switch, attach the cutout using a new O-ring made for the R-134a system and use the oil beneficial to the car's compressor. Remove the tape or plug from the switch port, add the high pressure cut out switch into the port and attach the plug from the engine wire harness connector. Reduce the vehicle, link the negative battery lead, remove any refrigerant from the system and recharge the A/C unit.
