2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: What Actions Are Necessary After an Air Bag Deployment in a Collision on 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: After a Driver air bag has been set off by a collision, replace the Driver air bag, Clock Spring Assembly, Steering Wheel and Complete Steering Column Assembly with Lower Steering Column Coupler. Whenever an air bag deploys, all air bag parts and parts of the vehicle near it should be checked and changed if they are damaged. Any deployed Passenger air bag means the Passenger air bag and Passenger air bag Cover should be fully replaced, just like other infected components. When an air bag is deployed, the official way is to change the Complete Seat Back Assembly and see if there are damages to all other interior pieces. Replacement of the air bags' Front Seat Belt Retractors (driver and passenger) which come with Tensioners, is necessary after front impact where an air bag is inflated, though other seat belt systems must just be inspected and replaced if found to be harmed. It's also important to check the Lower Anchors and Tether for Children (Latch) anchors and swap them out if there are any signs of damage. After cleaning up, roll or bend the air bag along its original path and tape the torn cover over the part that remained out when the air bag was deployed. First, clean away the remaining powder inside your vehicle using a vacuum, starting at the doors and remember to clean the heater and A/c vents too. Should the heating or Ac have been operating in Recirc during the deployment, turn on the blower on low and use a vacuum to pull powder out from both blower outlets, continuing until you see the vehicle is decontaminated.
