2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Bleed a Brake Master Cylinder on 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before you start bleeding the brake master cylinder, hold it firmly in a vise. If there is no ABS module, put four Brake Master Cylinder Bleed Tubes, Special Tool 8358-1, into each hole and tighten them down, with the tubes for the rear brakes connected to the proportioning valves. Put the other sides of each tube into the brake fluid of your reservoir. Put one Brake Master Cylinder Bleed Tube end, Special Tool 8358-1, in the primary port and another end, Special Tool 8358-2, in the secondary port and fasten them firmly. Also, place the remaining ends of both tubes into the reservoir below where the fluid is. Pour new Mopar brake fluid or a brake fluid matched to DOT 3 specifications into the reservoir tank. Press the pistons toward the center of the cylinder with a dowel pushrod, apply the brake pressure and then release the pushrod to make the pistons return. Do this step over again until no air bubbles can be seen in the tubes or the bore of the brake master cylinder. After that, take out the bleed tubes, cover the outlet ports, install the reservoir's fill cap and then take the brake master cylinder out of the vise.
