2003 Dodge Durango A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Accumulator on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: The first two steps are to cut power to the A/C accumulator by disconnecting its battery negative cable, followed by recovering the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Loosen the screws for the front and rear block fittings on the A/C accumulator, remove them from their connectors and be sure to seal covered line connections with plugs or tape. After that, unscrew the screw holding the A/C accumulator mounting bracket to the front fender wheelhouse front extension and take the A/C accumulator out of the engine compartment. Location goes by joining the A/C accumulator and its bracket to the front extension of the wheelhouse fender and only fastening them with the mounting screw for now. Unblock the liquid line block fitting on the front and the A/C accumulator inlet at the engine, install the fitting at the engine end onto the A/C accumulator by hand, then secure it with a screw, torquing it to 13.5 Nm (120 in. lbs.). Conduct this process on the liquid line fitting located at the rear and on the A/C accumulator outlet, torquing each to 13.5 Nm (120 in. lbs.). Tighten the bracket with the mounting screw, set to 6.8 Nm (60 in. lbs.), put the negative battery cable back, suck out the refrigerant and refill it. If a new A/C accumulator is fitted, then add just 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of recommended refrigerant oil to the system.
