2003 Dodge Durango Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace the Blend Door Actuator in a Dual Zone HVAC System on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: Before touching the blend door actuators, disable the air bag system by pulling the battery negative cable and allow at least two minutes after unplugging the cable for the air bag system to become safe. First, roll the Instrument Panel Assembly back and take out the HVAC unit from your vehicle. After that, unscrew the blend actuators and drive shaft from the blend door and then take out the upper part of the housing. Pull the blend air module out of its space in the housing unit. To install the drive shaft and blend actuators, attach the shaft to the blend air door, bolt on the actuators to the distribution housing and tighten all the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Attach the HVAC wire harness connector to the blend door actuator connector receptacle, move the Instrument Panel Assembly back toward the front and finally replace the negative cable on the battery.
