2003 Dodge Durango A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Remove and Install an A/C Condenser on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: Before disconnecting the condenser, point out the place of the radiator and condenser air seals because they direct air flow and should be reinstalled properly for good air conditioning and cooling operation. First, unplug and isolate the negative battery cable and then drain the refrigerant from the system. Remove the refrigerant line fitting that joins the discharge line to the condenser and cover or tape up every opened refrigerant line fitting. After that, separate the connection between the liquid line and the condenser outlet. Place plugs or tape onto all open refrigerant line fittings after removal. Unfasten the two screws securing the radiator and fan shroud module inside the upper radiator crossmember and afterwards remove the condenser cooling module from the car. As you move along to installation, pull or cut off any plugs or tape over the liquid line and condenser outlet fittings, connect the liquid line to the condenser outlet and tighten the fittings to 22.59 ± 3.39 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.). Lift the tape or plugs from the fittings on the discharge line and the condenser inlet, then secure the lines together and tighten the fitting to 22.59 ± 3.39 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.). Properly attach all condenser and radiator air seals, hook up the battery negative cable and remove the refrigerant. You should then replenish the lost refrigerant once evacuation is over. Should you replace the condenser, include 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the proper refrigerant oil approved for the compressor in your vehicle.
