2003 Dodge Durango A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in HVAC System for Suction Hose on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: Begin by taking out and separating the battery's negative cable so you can work on the A/C suction hose/line. Take out the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Remove the fitting from the refrigerant line at the condenser and from the suction line jumper, then cover or plug all open refrigerant line fittings. Remove the bracket nut under the compressor and the screw holding the manifold to the compressor. Before replacing the fittings, use plugs or tape to cover the open fittings with the 5.9L engine. Take the suction and discharge line assembly down from the vehicle. Unplug the low pressure cut-off switch from the suction line jumper, flush out the refrigerant at the original fitting, then disconnect the coupler on the refrigerant line between the suction line and the jumper and isolate any opened fittings with plugs or tape. First, disconnect the liquid line from the engine compartment, slide the plastic retainer out of the saddle on the top of the rear liquid line block fitting and pop it out using a hammer and flat-bladed screwdriver. Only after that should you take out the suction line jumper on the rear liquid block fitting. For installation, take off the tape or plugs from every refrigerant line fitting and attach the line couplers to the suction line jumper. Install the discharge line to the condenser, using 22 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.) of torque, then install the line manifold for the refrigerant onto the compressor, with 22 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.) of torque as well and fit the nut for the refrigerant support bracket on the compressor. Attach the battery negative cable again, empty the refrigerant system and charge it up. To install the suction line jumper, insert a new O-ring into the O-ring groove at the top rear of the liquid line block along the saddle shape, slide the plastic retainer onto the rear line and install the rear liquid line above the engine compartment. Take off the tape or plugs from the ports in both the suction line and suction line jumper and attach the suction line to the jumper and the low pressure switch to the jumper's fitting. Afterwards, link the battery negative cable, remove any remaining refrigerant and charge up the system.
