2003 Dodge Durango Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an Antenna Cable and Its Body on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: Disconnect the negative cable of the battery before replacing your antenna or cable. With the trim removed from that side of the inner cowl panel, grab the two connector halves and pull them apart as you twist them. First, release the antenna cable retainers inside the right front fender and then at the inner panel in the right row. Loosen the antenna mast from the antenna body and, using a special antenna nut wrench (C-4816), take off the antenna cap nut and the antenna adapter from the fender. Place the antenna body through the top fender mounting hole and with the cable attached to it, pull everything up and out through the opening next to the right fender and cowl panel, through the front door. Tug the antenna coaxial cable from the vehicle along the coaxial cable grommet you removed after taking it out of the right outer cowl side hole, then remove the antenna body along with the cable. Lay the antenna body and cable across the gap between the right cowl side outer panel and the fender when you open the front door, then push the antenna cable into the passenger area through the hole in the outer panel and slide the antenna cable grommet inside. Fit the antenna body through the hole in the fender, attach the adapter to the antenna from above and then use an antenna nut wrench (C-4816) to turn the screw at the top to 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.). Secure the antenna mast onto the antenna body at 3.3 Nm (30 in. lbs.), lock the antenna coaxial cable attachment points at the cowl side inner panel and in the front fender and hold the coaxial cable in place using retainer clamps below the instrument panel and in the glovebox. Uncover the area beneath the instrument panel beside the glove box to plug in the antenna coaxial cable connector, set the trim cover into place on the right cowl side inner panel and attach the battery negative cable.
