2002 Dodge Durango Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an Antenna Cable on the Instrument Panel on 2002 Dodge Durango?
A: First, you should separate and block the battery's negative cable before swapping the instrument panel antenna cable. Unlock the coaxial cable connector for the antenna just outboard of the glove box, below the instrument panel, by pulling the metal halves of the connector apart while avoiding the cable. Tie neatly a section of cord or twine to the instrument panel side of the antenna coaxial cable connector; this will be necessary during installation. Unhook the antenna cable from both the glove box opening and instrument panel, then remove the receiver from its bracket in the instrument panel. Take the antenna cable out through the opening at the radio and then lift the cord or twine off of the connector, placing it in its place. To install, attach the end of the supplt used during removal to the connector at the top of the new antenna's coaxial cable. Coil the antenna cable outside the hole in the radio receiver, then lower it through the hole from the inside using the cord or twine and finally place the radio receiver onto the instrument panel. Fit the antenna cable cable to the retainer clip on the lower part of the dashboard and on the glove box opening, tug apart the twisted cord or twine from its connector and reconnect the antenna coaxial cable connector from under the dash. When finished, attach the battery's negative cable to its corresponding terminal.
