2003 Dodge Neon A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches Parts and Q&A
Q: How Are A/C Compressor Cut-Out Switches Serviced and Repaired on 2003 Dodge Neon?
A: Before dealing with the high pressure sensor/switch, drain all refrigerant and take out the battery negative cable. Lift the vehicle, then remove the wire connector from the high pressure cut out switch, found on the compressor's back cover. Remove the internal snap ring securing the high pressure cut out switch to the switch port in the compressor back cover using snap ring pliers and then pull the switch out. Insert a short plug or cover the switch port with tape and throw away the rubber seal that was seated in the high pressure cut out switch. When installing, first remove any dirt from the switch bore, fit a new O-ring (made from the special material for the R-134a system) and apply the recommended refrigerant oil from the compressor for your car. Take the tape or plug from the switch port, fit the high pressure cut out switch into the port and attach the engine wire harness connector to it. Lower your vehicle, connect the battery negative end, expel the refrigerant from the A/C system (referred to as evacuating) and recharge everything.
