2003 Dodge Neon Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace the Evaporator in a Heater-A/C Housing on 2003 Dodge Neon?
A: This system uses an aluminum plate and fin style evaporator in the Evaporator/Blower module and you should replace it if it develops a leak or is damaged. The first step is to remove the housing around the heater-a/c. When working on the evaporator, air inlet duct, heater core or heating and air conditioning housing, separate the foam seals at the evaporator line connection and the hole where the dash air is delivered. Then, gather the upper to lower case retaining clip and screws and set them aside. You should now be able to pull the evaporator free from the module after separating the top and bottom case halves. To install, put the evaporator in the module, secure the window halves and attach the retaining clip and the screws. Place the foam seals into place at the evaporator line and along the air vents in the dash, then set in the heater-a/c housing. Subsequently, drain the refrigerant system and load it back up following the correct service guidelines.
