2003 Dodge Neon Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Initiate the Operation of a Power Steering Pump on 2003 Dodge Neon?
A: Before doing the initial operation on the power steering pump, turn off the engine and verify the fluid level to avoid getting harmed by moving parts. Put in Mopar ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid (MS-9602) and do not overfill it. Begin the process by filling the power steering fluid as it should be and wait two minutes before continuing. Allow the engine to run for a short period after starting it before you turn it off. If required, insert more fluid and continue this process until the fluid level doesn't change while running the engine. Afterward, position the front wheels above the ground and start the engine. Next, gently move the steering wheel to both sides until it feels the wheel stops. If necessary, replace the power steering fluid, then bring the car down and move the steering wheel slowly all the way from lock to lock. Park the vehicle, open the hood and check the level of the fluids, supplying more if it drops below the correct mark. When the foam is very noticeable and the fluid is thin, let the car sit for a while and repeat the procedure.
