2003 Jeep Liberty Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Air Bag Control Module on 2003 Jeep Liberty?
A: Connect the NEG terminal to the positive side of the battery first before you wait two minutes for the system's capacitor to drain. Take off the center console on the top of the floor panel transmission tunnel first, then remove the double-faced tape covering the left side ACM cover in the floor panel tunnel. After that, remove the ground screw securing the ground lug on the left rear side of the ACM housing to the ACM bracket and then take out the two screws that hold the ACM to the bracket welded to the top of the floor panel on the transmission tunnel. Detach the ACM from the bracket and then gently move it leftwards to see the wire harness connections. First, move the red switch on both Connector Position Assurance and then gently pull the connectors away from the ACM. Remove the old ACM, slide the new ACM to the left side of the floor panel transmission tunnel near the bracket, make sure the wire harness connectors are safely joined and align the ACM with the bracket using the forward-pointing arrow on the housing. Bolting the two ACM screws to the bracket using 36 Nm (26 ft. lbs.) and then fastening the ground screw at 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) completes the task. Set the ACM cover over the ACM, fit back the center console and follow this instruction before connecting the negative cable of the battery.
