2004 Dodge Dakota Brake Pad Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair Brake Pads on the Rear Wheels on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before servicing or replacing rear brake pads, make sure to raise and support the car and then take off the wheel and tire groups. Press the caliper together and lift it upside down from the caliper adapter, making sure the brake line doesn't hold up the assembly. Hang the caliper from a support and while it is hanging, get the brake pads off the caliper adapter. Before installing new brake pads, place the brake shoe in between the C-clamp and the piston and bottom the piston into the caliper bore using the C-clamp. Remove all old clips, clean the bracket on the caliper and install new ones because they come with the replacement rear brake pads kit. After that, put the first brake pad inside and the other outside the adapter. After putting the caliper top over the rotor, lock it into the mounting holes found on the brake caliper adapter. Put the wheels and tires back in place, though the vehicle lowers and press the brake pedal several times so the brake parts settle firmly. Information about toping off the master cylinder fluid can be found here.
