2004 Dodge Dakota Neutral Safety Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Neutral Safety Switch on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: To replace the Transmission Position Switch/Sensor, you should first unplug the connector and remove the valve body outside the vehicle. Then, remove the manual shaft seal and manually shaft/TRS retaining screw and slide the TRS off the manual valve shaft. For assembly, set the TRS onto the manual shaft so that its locating pin is positioned inside the manual valve bore slot. First, use 5 Nm (45 inch lbs.) of torque on the TRS/manual shaft retaining screw, then put the manual shaft seal in and finally attach the valve body to the transmission.
