2004 Dodge Dakota Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix Oxygen Sensors on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before you service or repair an oxygen sensor, raise and support the vehicle. Carefully disconnect the wire connector from the O2S sensor without taking the wire out of the sensor by pulling on it. To get rid of the O2S sensor, apply a sensor removal tool and purge residue from the threads of the exhaust pipe with the right tap. Since the threads of the new oxygen sensor are already coated with anti-seize compound at the factory, do not apply any more compound yourself. Fix the O2S sensor to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) torque and plug in the wire connector after that, before lowering your vehicle. Since these components become hot while the engine is running, always wait until the engine cools before you begin removing them.
