2004 Dodge Dakota Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before working with the brake light switch, first separate the switch harness. While the brake pedal is pressed and held, rotate the switch counterclockwise about 30° to get the switch lock tab into the notch in the bracket, then pull the switch away from the mount and let go of your brake pedal. To install the switch, press your brake pedal, then slide the tab on the switch into the notch on the bracket, place the switch in the bracket and twist it about 30° clockwise so it is locked. Link the harness wire to the switch, press and then hold the brake pedal and slide the release lever on the switch to the open position to make sure the switch plunger moves, completing the adjustment that can now only be reset if needed.
