2004 Dodge Dakota Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Windshield Washer Pump on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before doing anything else, cut off and isolate the battery negative cable. Following that, remove the headlamp and dash wire harness connector from the motor connector receptacle. Take out the washer supply hose from the pump's barbed outlet nipple and drain the washer fluid into a tidy container to save it for the next time. Pull the barbed washer pump nipple away from the rubber grommet seal in the reservoir using a trim stick or similar wide flat blade, making sure not to damage the reservoir. Get rid of the rubber grommet in the washer pump mounting hole in the reservoir. During installation, fit a brand new rubber grommet seal into the pump mounting hole. Place the barbed inlet nipple of the washer pump into the rubber grommet seal in the reservoir and press firmly all around until it is seated. Attach the washer hose to the barbed outlet nipple of the pump again and connect the headlamp and dash wire harness connector to the motor connector receptacle. Once you have the fluid, drain it back into the reservoir and then link the battery negative cable again.
