2005 Dodge Dakota Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Washer Pump on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: To start with, you should separate and isolate the battery's negative cable before servicing the motor. Put the washer fluid from the storage tank into a clean container, then put the car up on jack stands or blocks. The front underbody reservoir/bottle access point is located by passing your hand between the right front wheel house spoiler and the front bumper support. Take the electrical wire connector from the washer pump/motor and remove the water hose from the outlet nipple. Pull the top of the washer pump/motor housing backward and away from the molded motor receptacle in the reservoir to remove the snap fit. Apply gentle force with a trim stick or similar wide flat tool to get the inlet nipple of the pump out of the grommet seal in the sump of the reservoir. Take out and throw away the rubber grommet seal from the washer pump hole in the reservoir. In the sump, insert a new rubber grommet seal into the washer pump mounting hole on the outboard part of the combination washer reservoir/coolant bottle. Place the inlet nipple of the washer pump/motor unit into the rubber grommet seal in the reservoir and push it downward until the nipple goes all the way in. Put the washer housing over the sunken motor receptacle in the reservoir so the top of the housing matches and snap it down into place with a little pressure. Plug the reservoir washer hose into the pump output nipple and the wire harness plug into the connector in the top part of the pump motor. Lower your car, top up the washer tank with the siphoned fluid and connect the negative side of the battery cable again.
