2004 Dodge Durango Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: What Steps Should Be Taken After Air Bag Deployment in a Collision on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: After an accident and supplemental restraint use, any vehicle must have the deployed restraints changed before it can be used again. Should the driver's air bag go off, changing the Clock Spring is required. A passenger air bag door must be installed after deploying a passenger air bag. A damaged side curtain air bag means everything-the air bag itself, headliner and C- and D-pillar trim-must be replaced, as it may not be noticeable that the parts are damaged if only visually checked. Any vehicle that has a sunroof should be checked for damage to the sunroof drain hoses and tubes after a side curtain air bag explodes. Any vehicle impact damage should also involve a full inspection and restoration of all mounting surfaces and brackets for the Occupant Restraint Controller, side impact sensors and front impact sensors. Any incorrect location or loose attachment of the ORC or an impact sensor might cause air bags to trigger or not trigger as required by the circumstances. Other parts of the vehicle should be carefully examined following activation and changed only if damage is clearly seen.
