2004 Dodge Durango Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service an Air Bag Sensor on 2004 Dodge Durango?
A: To work on the front impact sensor safely, turn off the supplemental restraint system by disconnecting and isolating the negativeside of the battery and waiting approximately two minutes for the system capacitor to empty. First, get rid of the screw that holds the front impact sensor to the back of the radiator vertical member. Next, pull the headlamp and dash wire harness connectors off the sensor connector in the radiator cover. Eliminate the front impact sensor from inside the engine compartment. Put the new front impact sensor into the engine compartment and link the wire harness connector from the headlamp and dash to the sensor's connector. The sensor goes on the back of the support vertical pillar, inserting the anti-rotation pin into the clearance hole at the bottom. Fasten the sensor to the support vertical member by screwing it in 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.). Do not place the battery negative cable back until the verification test of the supplemental restraint system is finished after servicing any such part.
