2004 Dodge Ram 2500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in HVAC System for Liquid Hose on 2004 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Replace the A/C liquid hose/line by starting with the disconnection of the battery negative cable. The passenger side battery and battery tray should be removed from vehicles that have a diesel engine. Take out the refrigerant from your system and lift the plastic cover covering the condenser outlet stud. Take out the screw/nut from the liquid line connection at the condenser outlet, then pull the line out of the condenser and throw away the seal from the outlet. Put plugs or tape over the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port and after that, separate the liquid lines from the retaining clips on the body. Take out the secondary retaining clip from the spring-lock coupler joining the front and rear parts of the liquid line and then disconnect them by hand with the right tool for A/C lines, throwing away the O-ring seal. After finishing your work, put plugs or tape over the now-empty fittings. Pull the secondary retaining clip from the spring-lock coupler at the evaporator inlet tube and unhook the liquid line, eliminating the O-ring seal as you go. After you take the liquid line sections out of the engine compartment, slide them back carefully, being sure to remove all tape or plugs from the rear liquid line fitting and evaporator inlet tube. Cleanly oil a new rubber O-ring seal with refrigerant oil and then place it over the rear liquid line fitting, confirming it is the correct O-ring for your R-134a system. Attach the liquid line fitting to the evaporator inlet tube and insert the secondary having retainer clip. Go through the same process for the line fitting at the front, lubricating and linking it to the rear tube and then use the secondary retaining clip to secure it. Secure the liquid lines to the body retaining clips, uncover the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet by taking out tape or plugs and grease a new O-ring seal for the liquid line before you fit it to the condenser outlet port. Apply 180 in. lbs. (20 Nm) to the nut connecting the liquid line fitting to the condenser and fix the plastic cover tightly to the condenser outlet stud. On diesel vehicles, insert the passenger side battery tray and battery and hook up the negative cables to the battery terminals once more. After that, remove the refrigerant and then refill the system.
