2004 Dodge Sprinter 3500 A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an A/C Condenser on 2004 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: Before removing the A/C condenser, detach the negative battery cable and then capture the refrigerant in the refrigerant system. Start by taking out the front fascia, the grille and the headlamps and lastly the radiator crossmember. Remove the A/C discharge and liquid lines from the A/C condenser, throw away the 0-ring seals and cover the open liquid line and condenser ports with a plug or tape. First, disconnect the wire harness connector from the auxiliary fan and proceed to take out the auxiliary fan and upper bracket assembly after that. Then simply remove the lower bracket retainers and bracket. Lift up the vehicle with jacks while taking off the four screws that hold the condenser. If you are using a new condenser during installation, pour 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the needed refrigerant oil into the refrigerant system. Insert the A/C condenser into the engine compartment and attach it with four 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.) screws. Secure the lower auxiliary fan bracket and retaining nuts with 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.); set the auxiliary fan and upper bracket assembly with 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.) fastening screws. Attach the wire harness to the auxiliary fan, remove any tape or plug from the condenser ports and refrigerant line fittings, add clean oil to a new rubber 0-ring seal and install it onto the lines. Link the discharge and liquid lines to the A/C condenser and close the nuts to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Attach the radiator crossmember, headlamps, grille and front fascia once more and link the negative battery cable. After that, evacuate the system and refill it with refrigerant.
