2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How Should You Service and Repair Brake Lines on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The preferred brake hose and line materials for repair are preformed metal brake tubes, though double-wall steel tubes may be used in emergencies if proper brake parts are not available. To prevent injury to a brake hose, you must use essential special bending tools and you need specific ISO flaring tools to flare the hose at its end. Use a Tubing Cutter to remove the harm and then ream the area to create the correct flare with a reamer. Fit the new tube nut onto the tube, insert the tube in the flaring tool and put the gauge form over the endpoint. Operate the flaring tool until you see that the tube is resting within its fingerlike notch and tighten the bar down securely on the tube. Push the plug on the gauge into the tube, lock the compression disc around it and place the narrow end of the flaring screw in the indent of the disc. Tighten the handle to push the plug gauge onto the jaws of the flaring tool and start the inverted flare and then remove the plug gauge to complete the remaining work. If you are working with ISO flaring, use a TFM-428 from Snap-On or a comparable tool and follow the first steps of cutting off the bad part and smoothing what's inside. Slide the tube nut onto the end of the tube, put the end of the tube flush with the top of the flaring tool and turn the tool bar to tighten. Insert the appropriate adaptor size on the flaring tool screw, coat the adaptor with machine oil, line it up with the tube and tighten the yoke screw till lect adaptor is firmly on the tool bar.
