2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Assemble a Front Brake Caliper on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Ensure dust, grease and solvents do not get into the area before you start assembling the front disc brake caliper. First, use clean brake fluid to grease the caliper pistons, piston seals and piston bores. Place your fingers in the seal groove to install new piston seals, making certain they are seated correctly and not turned. After that, put a new dust boot around the edge of the caliper piston, making sure its edge sits properly in the groove. Take the boot and move it to the end over the fold until it springs into shape, then pull the boot forward to align the top line again. Set the piston inside the caliper bore and use your hand or a hammer handle to press it all the way down. Put the dust boot in the caliper using Installer 8280, then use Handle C-4171 to install the second piston and dust boot. Next, put the bleed screw on the caliper.
