2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: To start servicing the brake master cylinder, remove the brake fluid level sensor wire after which you should unconnect the brake lines from the brake master cylinder. After that, pull off the nuts connecting the brake master cylinder to the booster studs, then disconnect the brake master cylinder from the booster. Bleeding the brake master cylinder should be done before you install it. With an assistant holding the brake pedal, guide the brake master cylinder over the booster rod and studs and mount it in place, so that the pedal is not pushed in too hard to protect the booster rod and brake master cylinder. Wind the spring-style brake master cylinder nuts by hand, fitting them in the finned holes and tighten them to 25 Nm (18 in. lbs.), with only the manufacturer's nuts. Reconnect the brake lines, set the tightness to 16 Nm (144 in. lbs.) and put in the fluid level sensor. Once you've finished the previous steps, finish with a full bleed of the brake system.
