2004 Jeep Liberty Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Brake Caliper on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: Installing a prop rod on the brake pedal while lifting the vehicle is the first thing to do for serving and fixing the front brake caliper. Take off the wheel and tire and afterwards, remove the brake hose banjo bolt if you plan to change the caliper. Take out the caliper mounting slide pin bolts after that and take off the caliper from the car. When installing, hook the caliper onto the adapter, wet the caliper mounting blade bolts with silicone grease (beginning with those closest to the bleeder screws) and tighten them to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs). Replace the brake hose banjo bolt if it was not put back in and use new seal washers to connect the brake hose to the caliper at a torque of 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.). Take out the prop rod, let air out of all four brakes and then clip in the wheel assemblies, remove the stands and bring the vehicle down. Make certain that the brake pedal presses solidly before proceeding to drive.
