2004 Jeep Liberty Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Crankshaft Seal on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: First, take out the crankshaft vibration damper and the timing belt to work on the front crankshaft seal. After that, take Special Tool 6793 and insert C-4685-C2 to pull out the crankshaft sprocket, making sure you don't damage either the shaft seal surface or the seal bore. After that, follow Tool 6771's procedure to remove the front crankshaft oil seal without harming the seal area on the cover. After opening the cover, install Special Tool 6780 to fix a new seal into place with the seal spring inside the engine and flush with the cover. After that, replace the crankshaft sprocket using Special Tool 6792, restore the timing belt and fit the crankshaft vibration damper.
