2005 Chrysler Crossfire Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Vacuum Brake Booster for RHD on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable when servicing and repairing vacuum brake boosters on RHD cars. First, take out the master cylinder and next remove both the booster check valve and vacuum hose. After that, separate the connector for the travel sensor harness (3) and the solenoid valve harness connector (2). Slide the brake rod pin (2) retaining clip (4) off which holds the booster (1) push rod to the pedal (3) and then pull the push rod over the pin (2). Lift out the nuts (2) that secure the booster (1) to the dash panel. Advance the booster (1) slightly, tilt it up and remove it from where it sits in the engine compartment. On installation, correctly position the booster (1) over the dash panel, be sure to apply Mopar multi-mileage grease on the bottom of the pedal pin and put the booster retaining nuts (2) in place, tightening them to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.). After lining up the brake booster (1) push rod with the holes on the brake pedal (3), place the brake rod pin (2) and retaining clip (4) into the brake pedal (3). Check the check valve grommet (1) in the booster and replace it if it seems worn or broken before you install the booster check valve. Plug one end of the wire harness into travel sensor harness connector (3) and the other into the solenoid valve harness connector (2). Precision during installation of the master cylinder prevents harm to both the master cylinder and the booster. Attach the master cylinder making sure to use a new gasket and a few retaining nuts, rejoin the negative battery cable and check the brakes after filling and bleeding the system.
