2005 Chrysler Crossfire Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Parking Brake Cable on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Raising and supporting the vehicle first, take off the tire and wheel assembly to service and repair the parking brake cable. Also, get rid of the bolts that hold on the rear caliper assembly, then the brake rotor and finally the parking brake shoe assembly. First remove the tensioner bolt from the parking brake cable equalizer. Afterward, take out the retaining bolt at the front of the parking brake cable to free them from the equalizer. Pull the brake shoe actuator arm back from the rear wheel assembly, uncover the top of the arm and push out the cable pin to remove the actuator. Take away the bolt holding the parking brake cable to the rear wheel carrier and then pull the cable out of the eyelet to remove it from the vehicle. Run the cable through the eyelets, position the cable end on the rear wheel carrier and fasten it with the bolt, making sure the tightness is 20 Nm. Insert the pin in your cable through the actuator arm and then close the arm's top cover to finish connecting the cable to the actuator. Attach the actuator arm to the rear wheel carrier assembly once again, keeping it so that it rests without binding over the brass pins. Relink the parking brake cables to the equalizer and tighten the equalizer to the main front parking brake cable bolt. With everything out of the way, fasten the parking brake shoe assembly, rear brake rotor and rear caliper assembly bolts. Following this, release the parking brakes, put the wheel and tire back in place, lower the automobile and check if the parking brake functions correctly.
