2005 Chrysler Crossfire Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Ignition Coil on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Make sure the negative cable is disconnected before beginning service on the ignition coil. Handles should be found on both sides of the cover; pull up gently from them to take off the cover. After that, remove the upper air cleaner housing by taking off the inlet tube and the screws that keep it in place. Separate the ignition coil harness connector from where it goes into the engine, as well as the spark plug cables from the spark plugs. Take out the ignition coil's mounting bolt and remove the coil from the engine. The ignition coil should be placed on the cylinder head cover and a retaining bolt installed, securely tightened to 8 N.m. Attach the wire connector from the coil pack to the ignition coil wire harness and ensure the spark cables are positioned correctly so the plugs experience the same amount of spark. Knowing the colors of the coil and plug wires, fit them onto the coil tower and spark plugs to establish clear and audible contacts. Make sure the spark plug cables are securely attached to the spark plugs, replace the upper air cleaner housing and engine cover, align the retaining clips with the rubber mounts and push down firmly. Lubricate the rubber mounts of the engine cover and then reconnect the negative battery before putting on the cover.
