2004 Chrysler Crossfire Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Ignition Coil on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Before anything else, remove the air cleaner housing and disconnect the negative battery when service and repairing the ignition coil. After that, separate the connector for the ignition coil wire and the spark plug cables from the spark plug. With the retaining bolt removed, the ignition coil can be taken out from the cover that clamps it to the head. When installing, mount the ignition coil above the cylinder head cover and install the retaining bolt, tighten it to 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.). As you fit the spark plug and coil cables, make sure they are in the right spots and held down tightly by the necessary retainers to avoid bothersome roaring, wrong sparking between the plugs or trouble with the electrical system. For cables being set for the first time, listen for a snap as the spark plug's plug is snapped on. Connect the spark plug cables to the plug, put back the ignition coil wire harness connector, place the air cleaner housing again and reconnect the negative battery cable.
