2006 Chrysler Crossfire Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: First, lift and support the vehicle, then take off the wheel and the tire to work on the parking brake cable. Later, remove the assembly bolts from the rear caliper and the rear brake rotor. After finishing these two, move to the parking brake shoe assembly. Remove the parking brake cable equalizer tensioner bolt and take off the front retaining bolt of the parking brake cable to release them from the equalizer. Pull the parking brake shoe actuator arm away from the wheel carrier assembly, then open the top cover of the arm to access the cable pin. After pushing the pin through the arm, pull the actuator off the cable. Detach the parking brake cable from the rear wheel carrier assembly by undoing the mounting bolt and pulling the cable out through the eyelets at the front end of the vehicle. Thread the new cable through the eyelets and attach the end to the rear wheel carrier assembly using the provided bolt, ensuring it's tightened to 20 Nm. Thread the cable pin into the arm so that the actuator is hooked to the cable and then close the actuator arm lid. Insert the actuator arm into the rear wheel carrier assembly so it sits on the brass pins and doesn't get stuck. Connect the parking brake cables to the parking brake cable equalizer, then bolt the equalizer to the parking brake cable mounting bolt at the front. Apply the parking brake shoe assembly, mount the rear brake rotor, connect the rear caliper assembly bolts and forget positively to adjust the parking brakes. After that, attach the wheel and tire, lower your vehicle and check how the parking brake is working. Adjust it if needed.
