2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Pump on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Make sure the engine is not running and inspect the fluid level, it should be at MIN. COLD and MAX showed up again. COLD at a normal temperature that falls between 21°C and 27°C (70°F and 80°F). Stick to using Mopar Power Steering Fluid and do not fill it past the maximum mark. Make sure the power steering fluid reaches the full level and let it stand for about two minutes. Turn the engine on for a minute or so and then shut it down. If you need to, put more fluid in and repeat this step until the engine doesn't consume any more after you run it. Lift the front part of the vehicle, press the starter and turn the steering wheel gently left and right, touching the wheel stops. If you require power steering fluid, add some at this point. Drive the vehicle down and twist the steering wheel all the way back and forth. After you've finished filling up, shut off the car and inspect the fluid level, refilling when necessary. Should the spill form a lot of foam, leave the vehicle aside for a few moments and try again.
