How to Maintain a Shock Absorber on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Raise the vehicle and then take out the tire and wheel assembly to service the shock absorber. Put a transmission jack or similar device under the axle's center, raising it until you can lift the axle. Take out both bolts and nuts of the shock absorber lower mounting at the axle and after that, take out the upper mounting bolt to free the shock absorber from the vehicle. Pull up the top shock absorber eye and push it toward the body part, inserting the bolt from the hole above and only tightening it enough. Continue turning the jack until the lower bolt of the shock absorber can fit through its lower mounting eye and all the way through the axle flange. First, attach and screw the washer and nut on the end of the shock absorber's lower mounting bolt, making sure it is torqued to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.). Then, tighten the upper bolt to 99 Nm (73 ft. lbs.). After removing the jack, retrainstall the tire and wheel assembly and don't lower the vehicle until every wheel has been tightened to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
