How to Maintain a Shock Absorber on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Before servicing the shock absorber, lift and support the car, then take off the wheel mounting nuts and wheel with the tire. Lower a transmission jack or a similar tool under the axle's center, raising it so that the axle is securely supported. Get rid of the lower shock absorber mounting bolt, nut and washer at the axle. After that, unbolt the shock absorber at the body bracket and take the piece out of the vehicle. Attach the top shock absorber eye to the main bracket, then tighten the top bolt only partway. Keep adjusting the jack until the shock absorber lower mounting bolt will go through the axle flange and the shock absorber mounting eye. Mount the washer and the nut on the lower bolt and tighten it to 88 Nm. After that, set the upper shock absorber mounting bolt to 99 Nm. Take out the jack, put the wheel back on and torque the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm before letting the car down.
