2005 Dodge Dakota Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Oxygen Sensor on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Ensure the engine has stopped running and cooled down so you don't burn your hands servicing and repairing the oxygen sensor. The first thing to do is to raise the vehicle with your jack. Take away the 2/1 sensor, lift the right-front tire/wheel up and remove the plastic inner fender liner assembly afterwards. Take out the wire connector from the O2S sensor and do not directly pull on the wire that goes into the sensor. Release the O2S sensor by using a suitable o2s removal tool, then utilize a suitable tap to clean the threads inside the exhaust pipe. Remember that when you install a new oxygen sensor, it has anti-seize compound on its threads, so don't apply any more. Attach the O2S sensor and tighten the torque to 30 N-m (22 ft. lbs.), next attach the O2S sensor wire connector. While using a 4-sensor system, if you added the rear-downstream (2/1) sensor, remember to install the inner fender liner and the right wheel before finishing the installation.
