2006 Dodge Durango Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Air Bag Sensor for Front Impact on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: To start the service of the front impact sensor, cut off the negative battery cable, wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge and then proceed. Remove the screw on the front impact sensor that is connecting it to the back of the radiator support vertical member. After that, undo the connectors linking the headlamp and dash wire harness from the sensor receptacle. Take care to remove the front impact sensor from inside the engine compartment. For installation, place the new sensor at the bottom of the engine compartment and then link the headlamp and dash wire harness to it. Place the sensor on the vertical member of the radiator support, so the pin locks into the lower clearance hole on the sensor. Fasten the securing screw to 6 N.m (55 in. lbs.) during the installation. You should not reconnect the negative cable on the battery until after the supplemental restraint system verification test is complete, following any repair or replacement of a supplemental restraint system part.
