Q: How to Remove and Service a Lower Control Arm on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: The lower control arm is secured below the vehicle, so first raise the vehicle and remove the wheel and tire. After that, remove the disc brake caliper assembly and the disc brake rotor from the bike. Loosen the wheel speed sensor at the wheel well and the tie rod from the knuckle with special tool 8677. On 4X4 models, take out the front halfshaft nut, then remove the upper ball joint nut and separate the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle by using Remover 8677. Take out the ball joint nut from the bottom and split the ball joint from the steering knuckle by using Remover 8677. With special tool 8686, release the pressure on the torsion bar after removing the steering knuckle and then remove it from the vehicle. Get rid of the stabilizer bar link and the shock absorber lower bolt, before removing the front and rear pivot bolts. Lastly, take out the lower control arm from the vehicle.
