2005 Dodge Durango Sway Bar Link Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Rear Sway Bar Link on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: Before serving the rear sway bar link, first lift the vehicle and remove the rear tire. To change the left sway bar link, raise the vehicle with a jack and take off the fuel tank skid plate at the rear axle. Next, take out the bolt holding the strap to the tank and let the strap drop from its hole. Lift the fuel tank towards the driveshaft and set a block of wood between the frame and the fuel tank under the bolt for the upper sway bar link. First, take out the upper link nut and bolt on the frame, followed by the lower link nut at the sway bar and finally remove the sway bar link. For mounting, start by fitting the top bolt and nut for the sway bar link onto the frame, tighten to achieve 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) of torque. Should the left sway bar link be replaced, put away the block of wood, fasten the rear fuel tank strap and fit the skid plate for the fuel tank again. After that, fasten the sway bar link to the sway bar, put in the nut and tighten it to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). When you're done, take out the jack and bring the vehicle down to the ground.
