2005 Dodge Durango Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Oil Filter on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: Attach a drain pan below the oil filter before starting the work. Place a suitable wrench on the filter and rotate it in the other direction (clockwise) to disconnect the filter from the cylinder block boss. After the filter is separated, tip the oily end upward, then lift the filter so oil does not spill on the car and take it out, making sure the filter gasket removes with the filter. Open the cap, wipe away any oil or dirt from the gasket surface and then close the cap. Put a small amount of engine oil on the oil filter gasket and thread the filter onto the adapter nipple. When the gasket is positioned on the surface, turn the filter one complete turn before stopping. Afterward, add the oil, check the crankcase to make sure it is not too high or low and check for leaks while starting the engine.
