2005 Dodge Neon Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2005 Dodge Neon?
A: Before opening and fixing the brake light switch, make sure to pull out and disconnect the negative battery wiring. Go under the instrument panel and rotate the brake lamp switch counterclockwise about 30 degrees, then pull it from the bracket and take out the wiring harness from its connector before tossing out the switch. Secure a replacement switch, making sure the adjustment lever is set at 45° relative to the wiring connector; if the lever is parallel, that switch is pre-set and cannot be used. Secure your new switch by fastening the wires to it, then adjust the tab in the bracket to fit into the notch. After releasing the brake pedal, turn the adjustment lever clockwise from 45° toward the wiring connector, making sure it is lined up with it when parallel. Restore the battery's negative terminal, test the brake lights and take the vehicle on a road trip to evaluate brake and speed control performance.
