What is the Proper Way to Service an Oil Filter on 2005 Dodge Neon?

Be sure to use the right oil filter removing tool and hold the filter wrench strap around the area where the filter meets the base plate, so you don't deform the filter. Gas the filter by turning it towards the left when removing it. Before installing, look at and tidy the mounting surface, checking it's smooth and free from anything old or dirty. Lube the filter gasket, secure the filter onto the base and tighten it to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).
