2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee ABS Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an ABS Control Module on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The first step to servicing the Electronic Brake Control Module is to disconnect the negative battery cable and add a brake pedal prop rod. Go ahead and siphon the master cylinder and then separate its HCU electrical wires. Remove the first brake line from the master cylinder and also from the HCU, followed by removing the same brake line from each location again. Following this, take out the four chassis lines at the HCU and the three mounting nuts from the HCU bracket. First, get the HCU out of the car with the bracket, then undo the three ABM bolts holding the ABM to the HCU and pull them apart. A scan tool is needed to reprogram the new ABM if the old one is going to be replaced. Screw the ABM into the HCU and fasten it with the three bolts, until the torque is 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.). Secure the HCU with bracket to the car, tighten the two mounting nuts and then link the HCU to the vehicle with the electric connector. Set up the four chassis brake lines at the HCU, after which mount both the secondary and primary brake tubes at both the HCU and master cylinder. Place the negative battery cable back and then remove the brake pedal prop rod, drain and push out air from the base and ABS brake system and activate the ABS module using a scan tool.
