2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wheel Stud Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace Wheel Studs on the Rear Wheels on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before changing the rear wheel studs, support and raise the vehicle, undo the wheel and tire assembly and remove both the brake caliper and rotor. Use Remover 8677 first to remove the stud from the hub, then take it out from between the hub/bearing and the brake shoes. For installation, drive the new stud through the hub flange while rotating it at the same time between the hub/bearing and park brake shoes. Place three washers on the stud, then put the lug nut on with the flat side against the washers and tighten it until the stud is drawn into the hub flange, making sure it's properly seated where it should be. Once you have taken out the lug nut and the washers, put the brake rotor and caliper back on and add the wheel and tire using a refreshed lug nut on any replaced studs. Lastly, eliminate the support and lay the vehicle back down.
