2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Oxygen Sensor on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The first step to servicing an oxygen sensor is to raise and support the vehicle. Unplug the connector to the O2S sensor and remember not to pull on the wire leading into it. Remove the O2S using a special tool and then clean the threads inside the exhaust pipe with the proper tap. When you fit a new oxygen sensor, keep in mind the threads have been pre-treated with anti-seize grease, so don't apply any more grease. Unique to Beetle models, after connecting the O2S sensor wire, tighten the sensor to 30 N-m (22 ft. lbs.) torque and then lower the vehicle. Be sure to let the engine cool before you start and do not apply grease anywhere on the oxygen sensor wiring harness or try to solder it.
