2006 Chrysler Crossfire Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Front Suspension Shock Absorber on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Take care to place the front tires on the ground with the car lifted at the back before unscrewing the upper shock absorber bracket nut. You should start by getting rid of the upper mounting nut, as well as both the washer and rubber mounts. Then, raise and hold up the vehicle, take off the nut and bolt from the lower control arm and pull the shock down and out of the vehicle. Remove any mounting pieces from the shock absorber and look at each mounting piece for any signs of damage. Put the mounting hardware and the bushings on the lower mount and the shock absorber's upper stud. First, put the shock absorber into the vehicle, with the top going in and make sure the lower control arm bracket lines up with the shock. Attach the shock absorber to the car with the lower nut and bolt, tighten the bolt to a torque of 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.). Lift the vehicle lower and guide the top of the shock absorber into the mounting hole, then put the rubber mount and washer over the shock stud as you guide it down. Lastly, put in the upper mounting nut, tighten it to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.) and lower the car to examine vehicle alignment.
