2006 Chrysler Crossfire Flywheel Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Flywheel Using the Flywheel Locking Tool on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: The first step to working on the flex plate or flywheel is to take out the transmission and starter. To keep the flywheel in place, insert Special Tool 9102 Flywheel Locking Tool into the starter hole. Should you have one, take out the clutch, pull the flywheel bolts and remove the spacer together with both the flywheel and flexplate. Verify whether the rear crankshaft oil seal is leaking and then carry out a replacement if it needs one. When you put in the new components, use new bolts for the flywheel or flexplate. Set the flywheel/flexplate at the right place on the crankshaft pin, put the spacer over and tighten the bolts to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.). Going clockwise by 90°, put the clutch back on if it was removed, take out the locking bolts and finish by snapping in the starter and transmission.
