2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Bleed a Brake Master Cylinder Without ABS on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First, clamp the brake master cylinder into a vise when bleeding it. For vehicles that do not have ABS, first attach Special Tool 8822-1 to the main outlet port and tighten to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.), then link Special Tool 8822-2 to the second outlet port and tighten to the exact torque as before. To each adapter, add Special Tool 8358-1 Bleeder Tubes, tighten the tube nuts to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.) and to each proportioning valve, mount Special Tool 8358-2 Bleeder Tubes and tighten them to the same measure. Immerse the opened Bleeder Tubes into a jar of brake fluid without making them overflow. On vehicles with ABS, insert Special Tool 8822-1 into the primary outlet port and Special Tool 8822-2 into the secondary outlet port, both tightened to 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.). Link the Bleeder Tubes provided with Special Tool 8358-1 to all adapters so that the open part of the tubes is placed below the brake fluid level inside the reservoir. Make sure to replace the old brake fluid by adding new Mopar Brake Fluid DOT 3 Motor Vehicle or its equivalent. After fitting the wooden dowel to the pushrod, press the pistons gently to spray brake fluid out of the Bleeder Tubes and then let them return to their original position. Do this process until there are no more air bubbles. After this, remove the Bleeder Tubes and adapters, close the brake master cylinder outlet ports, set the fill cap on top of the reservoir and take the brake master cylinder out of the vise. Then, install the brake master cylinder on the vehicle.
