2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace the Brake Master Cylinder on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: First, use the brake pedal and pump it down around 4-5 occasions, with the engine off, on a LHD vehicle with ABS to make sure there is no vacuum left in the power brake booster. Should it be required, open the air cleaner cover and shift it so you can get to the battery negative terminal. Pull the air cleaner housing up and take it off, then break the connection between the negative (ground) cable and the battery. Open the door of the power distribution center, lift it and slide it over to the side. Undo the connection of the vehicle wiring harness from the brake fluid level switch located in the brake fluid reservoir. After that, separate the primary and secondary brake tube lines from the master cylinder by unscrewing them from the ports and fit a plug for each open brake tube outlet. When the engine has a manual transaxle, take off the clamp and take the clutch actuator hose from the reservoir port. Spray a suitable brake cleaner in the area around the master cylinder where it connects to the power brake booster. Unscrew the two nuts that hold the master cylinder to the power brake booster and slide the master cylinder straight out.
